APH Holding launches Wellington Health precinct with new $320m high rise

APH Holding, a privately-owned asset management and investment firm specialising in healthcare, hospitality, commercial and retail developments, has officially launched Wellington Health, a multi-billion dollar state-of-the-art healthcare precinct in the heart of the Box Hill medical and education hub.

Eastern Health, one of Melbourne’s largest metropolitan public health service providers, will be a major partner in the project.

The official launch of Wellington Health was celebrated by Paul Hamer MP, APH Holding Chairman James Zhang, Chairwoman Weina Huangfu, CEO Johnson Zhang, CFO Yoyo Zhang, Director of Healthcare and Commercial Shalain Singh, Eastern Health CEO David Plunkett, and friends.

APH Holding’s first centre of excellence, Wellington Health One, will be located at 12-24 Wellington Rd, Box Hill. The $320m development will deliver a 20-storey medical building combining state-of-the-art healthcare and technology facilities with premium lifestyle amenities and a private club, comprising 30,000 square metres of NLA.

Shalain Singh, Director, Healthcare and Commercial at APH Holding, said at the launch ceremony today, “On behalf of the APH Holding team, we are excited to officially celebrate the launch of Wellington Health, a world-class health and lifestyle precinct that will redefine the future of wellbeing, not only in the City of Whitehorse but also across the wider eastern suburban catchment.

“Wellington Health One, a centre of excellence for mental health and other healthcare services, will help address a crucial need for mental health support and community services that were particularly highlighted during COVID-19.

“We don’t just have a vision for Box Hill – we’re putting these plans into action,” said Mr Singh. “Our investment in Wellington Health One, with the support of our major partner Eastern Health, will kick off just one of many dedicated healthcare environments that we have planned for our Wellington Health precinct. These growth plans will create thousands of jobs, enhance community engagement, and provide a solution for some of the blockages currently within Victoria’s healthcare system, addressing supply and delivery service concerns across the eastern suburbs.

“Long-term, these environments will attract and retain the best healthcare service and lead innovation, delivering better patient outcomes.”

Along what is named the ‘golden arc’ by APH Holding, the Wellington Health precinct in Box Hill is one of the many investments APH Holding has committed to that will provide services and community connection across its best-in-class healthcare, commercial, retail and hospitality environments.

APH Holding’s vision is to realise a revolutionarily second CBD in Victoria, by delivering exceptional amenity in Box Hill across commercial, hospitality and retail developments and subsequently enhancing the way locals live, work, and play through integrated precincts. This builds on the City of Whitehorse’s overarching vision for Box Hill, earmarked since WWII.

Due for completion in early 2024, Wellington Health One will service overflow in Box Hill, with 544,308 permanent residents situated within a 15-minute catchment. The development will have a 5-star Green Star energy rating environment and will comply with the requirements of class 9A buildings to deliver clinical services.

Wellington Health One will offer premium medical suites with spectacular views and on-site facilities suitable for both small and large-scale medical practices. The design allows for a wide range of medical services such as mental health care, radiology, dental care, general consultations, and laboratories for medical research and innovation in the world of life sciences and diagnostics.

Tenants will also have access to a private health club that includes gym facilities, relaxation spaces, a bar, and lounge. End-of-trip facilities and ample secure parking will also be available for occupants and guests.

Retail offerings will include a pharmacy, upmarket food and beverage options and a café, contained within a sunlight-filled public plaza that will provide breakout spaces for both the public and Wellington Health staff.
